In recognition of Travel Agent and Travel Agency Leader Excellence

The time has come for the annual ACTA Awards! ACTA will be highlighting a number of nominees who have contributed to the Canadian Travel Industry through advocacy. Nominate your colleagues and fellow Travel Professionals today! We are looking forward to recognizing these travel agents and travel agency leaders at our Virtual Canadian Travel Industry Summit.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic that continues to affect the Canadian travel industry and the whole world, ACTA will be accepting nominations for the Gerald Heifetz Trailblazer Advocacy Award. Recipients of the Gerald Heifetz Trailblazer Award and the Maguire-Wamsley CTM Award will be announced at our Summit.

Award Categories

(1) Gerald Heifetz Trailblazer Advocacy Award
Industry Advocacy Recognition

This Award was established in memory of Gerald Heifetz. Gerald helped travel agents, business people and countless struggling immigrants through his law practice. He was instrumental in the foundation of ACTA and CITC. He established many of the laws that currently govern the Canadian travel and airline industry.

The recipients will be individuals who in the most recent year have had a significant and positive impact through advocacy on behalf of Canadian travel agents and travel agencies.

(2) Maguire-Wamsley CTM Award
Certified Travel Manager (CTM) Recognition

The Maguire-Wamsley CTM Award is awarded to the individual who achieves the highest combined mark on the ACTA Certified Travel Manager (CTM) exam and case studies, who also works in an ACTA member agency.

Award Criteria

(1) Gerald Heifetz Trailblazer Advocacy Award

Candidates for the Gerald Heifetz Trailblazer Advocacy Award must meet the following eligibility requirements in order to be nominated:

  • must be an ACTA member in good standing at the time selection is made;
  • must not be a current employee, officer or director of ACTA at any time during the yearly period for which the award will be awarded; and
  • has not been awarded in the past.

 

(2) Maguire-Wamsley CTM Award

Candidates will be predetermined based on the grade received by individuals who completed the ACTA Certified Travel Manager (CTM) exam and case studies. To be eligible for the Maguire-Wamsley CTM Award exam participants must meet the following eligibility requirements in order to be nominated:

  • must be working in an ACTA Member travel agency at the time selection is made;
  • must not be a current employee, officer or director of ACTA at any time during the yearly period for which the award will be awarded; and
  • must have received the highest combined mark on the ACTA Certified Travel Manager (CTM) exam and case studies.

Timing

Nominations Open: August 6, 2021

Nominations Close: August 27, 2021

Rules and Regulations

Businesses or individuals are encouraged to nominate themselves or others for consideration using the Nomination Form.

The Gerald Heifetz Trailblazer Advocacy Award requires that the Nomination Form be filled out in full. A completed form supports the nomination in order to demonstrate how the nominee meets criteria for the award.

A judging panel appointed by ACTA will select one national award-winner for the Gerald Heifetz Trailblazer Advocacy Award.

Winner Recognition

  • The ACTA Awards will be presented at the ACTA Canadian Travel Industry Virtual Summit on September 30 or October 1, 2021.
  • Finalists will be requested to record a short acceptance speech to be aired during the Summit.
  • Travel trade media release.
  • Article in ACTAVision.
  • Posting on the ACTA website and social media channels.
